Color always photographs better than black when it comes to fashion and especially the red carpet, so it may just be me or perhaps the sudden death of Whitney Houston that made it seem as if this year’s Grammy Awards red carpet turned out an above-average number of black looks. From the stunning to the strange, check out the black beauties below.
To the Fashion Police out there: who’s your favorite? Least favorite?
Adele was unstoppable. Styled impeccably, her Giorgio Armani gown really made accessorizing unnecessary. Still, we love the elegant earrings she wore, and that 12.4 carat sparkler by Harry Winston.
Alicia Keys got mixed reviews for this look, but we love the minimalist-chic choice and that necklace! Love.
Giorgio Armani was represented well this Grammy season, with Rihanna taking a totally different direction from Adele. Not so sure about the hairstyle, but we love the gold accessories.
Probably the one girl who out-sexed Rihanna was Adam Levine’s girlfriend, model Anne V. Watch out when the wind blows!
We appreciate Jessie J’s disco ball risk (plus, that dress seems like it’s really heavy)—which is actually quite tame for Julien Macdonald—but more than that, we like her nails and that ring!
Ukranian singer Mika Newton looked lovely
Cyndi Lauper was channeling Xtina’s hair circa “Dirrrty”. A questionable look overall, but Cyndi’s done far worse.
Corinne Bailey Rae. From the platforms to the skirt and the hair there was way too much volume. More doesn’t always equal more.
Gaga skipped the red carpet but was definitely at the ceremony. Sitting next to… Miranda Lampert? Wonder what they talked about.
E! host Giuliana Rancic looked glowing in black and gold. Great choice by her stylist Lauren Shane. We’re so happy to see her healthy again!
Gwyneth Paltrow looked absolutely stunning. Again with the black and gold combo. Absolutely gorgeous!
Shawna Thompson also did the black and gold thing. Check out her bracelet below.
And Snooki. Keeping it real wherever she goes. Check out her arm party.
